Its responsibilities include:
- Determining planning applications
- Authorising some enforcement action
- Deciding on the formation and review of planning policies
- Authorising Tree Preservation Orders

11. To consider applications, together with the Director of Planning recommendations thereon:- (page 43)
- NYM/2026/0087 - permission for temporary exploratory potash vertical borehole and three branched boreholes, associated plant equipment including drilling rig (max height 15 metres) and welfare facilities within a compound together with access arrangements at land at Partridge Hill Farm, Fylingdales
- NYM/2026/0077 - installation of a ground mounted solar array comprising 192 panels (82.8kW output) with associated meter hut and battery storage unit at Middlewood Farm Caravan Site, Middlewood Lane, Fylingthorpe
- NYM/2026/0063 - use of land for the siting one camping pod for holiday letting purposes (relocated from approved scheme NYM/2021/0747/FL) at Lawns Farm, Barry Bank, Ugthorpe
