Through our Woodland Creation Grant we have created and established 1.06 hectares of mixed native broadleaf woodland, wood-meadow and traditional orchard at Prospect Farm House Ravenscar.
The scheme will improve woodland connectivity within the wider landscape. Compartments were planted with site-appropriate species of trees and shrubs that have been selected with landscape, biodiversity and climate resilience in mind.
Species that were planted included:
- Goat willow
- Pedunculate oak
- Wild cherry and more
This projects supports the following management plan objectives:
Outcome 1: A resilient landscape at the forefront of addressing climate change and nature recovery.
Objective 2: Capture and store carbon by creating at least 2,500 hectares of additional wooded habitat by 2032.
