15 May – 31 July 2027
From the trickling headwaters of the River Esk, high on the North York Moors, to the intertidal habitats at the mouth of the river in Whitby harbour, the River Esk supports the cycle of life of the National Park’s best loved and endangered species.
In this exhibition, artist Hilary Roper brings to life the River Esk’s creeping curlews and leaping salmon with her vibrant, impasto oil paintings. Hear hidden underwater sounds, touch the man-made harbour habitats and experience the artwork that our passionate Reconnect community have created in response to their love for the river.
For the last 3 years the Reconnect project have been connecting people with the river, sharing their knowledge of how to care for it and learning from the community.
This exhibition is a collaboration made possible by our partners; Crescent Arts, Groundwork NE, Yorkshire Marine Partnership.
