All planning authorities are required to produce a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA).
The North York Moors National Park Authority last updated its SFRA in 2017, to help inform policies in the Local Plan and to provide further guidance for the consideration of planning applications.
The Environment Agency publishes flood risk maps which are used by the Authority to determine whether a development is likely to be at risk from flooding. The SFRA uses these maps as a basis and supplements this with further information on past flooding events obtained as part of the SFRA process.
