What makes this a special place?

Come celebrate the diamonds in our landscape. 2009 is the 60th anniversary of the National Park movement in Britain and there's lots of events in National Park Week. Springwatch 2009 is with us too, so keep checking our webcam as we await the arrival of our kestrel chicks.

Here in the North York Moors National Park you'll enjoy miles of stunning heather, towering sea-cliffs, sandy beaches, ancient woodland and grassy dales as well as pretty villages, historic sites and a wealth of wildlife.

If cycling and walking is what you enjoy, then the North York Moors has to be for you. It's Happy Birthday to the Cleveland Way National Trail too, so why not walk some or all of it in this, its 40th year?
