Renewable Energy Supplementary Planning Document

The Renewable Energy Supplementary Planning Document provides detailed advice on the information required to meet the requirements of Policy ENV8 of the Local Plan which requires the installation of renewable energy to offset 10% of the predicted CO2 emissions on developments of five or more houses or other uses of 200sqm or more.

It also provides advice on selecting and designing appropriate renewable energy developments in the National Park and contains details of the information that should be submitted as part of a planning application.

Under a new national Order, from 17 December 2013 applicants wishing to submit proposals involving more than two wind turbines or turbines of a hub height exceeding 15 metres will need to carry out consultation with the local community prior to submitting a planning application.

Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document

The Design Guide describes the distinctive qualities and characteristics that make the North York Moors National Park special – the local distinctiveness of the landscape; settlement patterns and buildings and is intended to encourage a high standard of design in new development. The Design Guide comprises five parts:

Osmotherley and Thimbleby Village Design Statement

The Osmotherley and Thimbleby Village Design Statement was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document on 25 February 2011.

It is part of the North York Moors Local Development Framework and was prepared by residents from the villages. A designed version of the Village Design Statement is currently being produced and will be made available here. Hutton Buscel Village Design Statement

The Hutton Buscel Village Design Statement contains an assessment of the history and character of Hutton Buscel, identifying the important and significant features of the buildings within the village and has been developed to provide advice on how new development should contribute towards preserving and enhancing the character of the village. The document was prepared by residents from the village.
